Using thermograohy as
a manteinance instrument on electrical installations' lines and
components
All the components of electric installations undergoing a thermal
stress may eventually show a decay in their constructional and functional
charachteristics due to slackening, oxidation, supercharge, design
faults, lack of manteinance, faulty insulation, other. These phenomena
often cause a resistance variation producing component's super heating.
The planned service of IR thermographic inspections is the only
way to prevent breakdowns caused by such decays.
Planned inspections service
1. Installations inspection searching and locating incipient
failure on working components.
2. Thermal analysis of the failure and quantification of
defects.
3. Faulty components' certification including "Polaroid"
picture of the failure, components' superheating level (current
and max charge) failure danger degree, reccomended manteinance and
repair intervention.
4. Conclusive thecnical report including information on lower
degree damages, certification file of higher degree damages, installation
overall condition, reccomended inspection periodicity.
Preventive manteinance's advantages:
- incipient failure location on working plants;
- failure gravity and repair intervention's priority evaluation;
- possible responsibility identification;
- cost and type of inspection and manteinance predictability;
- reduction of manteinance costs and intervention times;
- stores reduction;
- plants' efficiency and reliability increase;
- failures' drastic reduction;
- lower production costs.
